Durante Equipment is a construction equipment rental business based in Hollywood, Florida. Durante Equipment services construction companies in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties and delivers equipment to job sites throughout the surrounding area.

Their existing service facility only had a small concrete access ramp for bringing equipment into their shop. They wanted to increase shop capacity and efficiency by adding ramp access to an adjacent 14-foot shop door. The current door had been utilized as a makeshift shipping dock and they wanted to convert it into an access point to bring larger heavy equipment into their service area. They also wanted to increase the depth of the outside area for staging equipment prior to entering the shop. Together with Durante Equipment, Nation Ramps designed a two section, 50,000 lbs (GVW) ground to dock ramp with a custom level-off area that met all of their demands to win the contract. Once the contract was awarded the ramp needed to be designed, manufactured, delivered and installed to their Florida location.

The solution was a Nation Ramps heavy duty 14-foot wide, two section ground to dock ramp that incorporated a 3-foot level-off platform. Having worked with construction and equipment rental businesses, we understood the required deliverables.

One Properties

One Properties in Edmonton, Alberta was working with a prospective tenant for one of their many commercial properties. In order to finalize the lease, the tenant required the ability to access the warehouse with equipment, but there was no existing ground level access. The building had a 14’ dock door that was perfectly suited, but there was no time to pull permits and construct a permanent ramp. Together with One Properties, Nation Ramps designed a ground to dock ramp that met all of their demands to win the contract. Stanley Access Technologies

Stanley Access Technologies in Mississauga, Ontario wanted to transform a warehouse door into a dock level loading point for their work trucks. They required the ability to support pedestrian traffic including staff performing loading duties and drivers exiting their vehicles. Canada Post, Oliver BC

Canada Post in Oliver, BC needed to improve efficiency and expand their access to an existing, older building. At the same time they were required to meet the updated safety standards, including BC Building and CPC Accessibility Codes. Canada Post required a ramp to go from grade to dock level. With the increase in eCommerce parcels, they needed the ability to safely move carts of packages from the dock to waiting postal trucks at ground level. Along with the ramp they also needed a new stairway for employee building access. A Ford Solution

Lott Brothers Construction was contracted by Ford to renovate an  existing building on their research center grounds in Austin, Texas. Lott Brothers Construction is an existing Nation Ramps client, so we looked forward to working on another project with them. Ford required vehicle access to the building at multiple points. The architectural drawings included three ramps to go from grade to the garage level. The design included two vehicle entrances and a single exit. With 12’ wide doorways, they wanted to maximize the ramp widths to handle any possible type of vehicle traffic. Together with Lott Brothers and Ford, Nation Ramps designed three units that met all of their demands to win the contract. Once the contract was awarded the ramp needed to be designed, manufactured, delivered and installed to meet with their strict construction timeline.

Floral Company Requires Ground to Dock Access

MGS Floral uses carts to move their flowers from and to delivery vehicles at their warehouse in Norwich. Their existing building only had dock level access, and this meant they were required to move all of their product by hand. They approached Nation Ramps for a solution that would allow them to use their existing push carts to move the flowers in and out of their building. The challenge was the requirement for a grade that allowed carts to be pushed with human power. They were also concerned with the small wheels having difficulty transitioning over the ramp and into their building. MGS Floral was on a tight budget and needed a solution that was affordable.

The ideal ramp was a used PLD18K-34×77-50A portable loading dock coming off rental in Montreal. This ramp featured a solid steel transition plate allowing for the small wheels of the carts to easily move on and off the ramp without getting stuck. The PLD18K also has a 7.5’ platform to ensure a level surface entering and exiting the warehouse. With a 26.5’ ramp the grade allowed for the easy pushing of flower filled carts in and out of their building without risk to safety of their staff. With the unit being located in Montreal, Nation Ramps was able to offer quick delivery. Once on site the one-piece unit was easily off-loaded and placed for immediate use. The only adjustments for installation were removal of the dock bumpers, and minor adjustment to accommodate for the un-level ground and dock height. The PLD18K is rated at 18,000 lbs capacity and can easily handle the requirements of MGS Floral. As their needs change the ramp can also accommodate a 5,000 lbs forklift or be re-purposed to be used as a standalone loading dock. Along with our over engineered steel structure design, our ramps include 12” safety rails, ensuring that their push carts and pedestrian traffic are safe at all times.

Military Procurement Specialist Contracts Nation Ramps For National Guard Custom Mobile Equipment Ramp

Mercaterra Atlantic regularly bids on military contracts and approached Nation Ramps about designing and bidding on a custom mobile equipment loading ramp for the National Guard in Varnsville, South Carolina. The National Guard required a ramp with 50,000 lbs capacity, a maximum length of 35’ and completely mobile. Used for military equipment loading and off-loading they also needed the ramp to be a maximum grade of 9.5°. What To Do When You Move To A New Location And Have No Capability To Off-Load

R.E. Michel contracted All About Doors as part of the renovation of a Nashville location prior to a branch relocation. Contracted to upgrade and install new overhead doors; All About Doors needed to be able to off-load materials and equipment at the site. Other contractors faced a similar problem needing a method to off-load at a site where there was no existing loading dock. All About Doors contacted Nation Ramps to find a solution that could be installed and operational within a few days.

The solution was a PLD22K-34×102-50A located in Ridgeway, South Carolina that had just been returned from rental. The R.E. Michel renovation required a ramp with enough load carrying capacity and width to handle off-loading of equipment, materials and even vehicles. The tower project within the city created unique challenges for logistics. Splendor Shower Door was founded in 1952, as a fabricator of room partitions. In 1968, Splendor started manufacturing and installing shower doors in and around Toledo, Ohio. Since then Splendor has grown to be a complete shower door and glass company. They expanded to service 18 states through distributors and now offer a full-line of glass and shower door product lines.

With the growth Splendor has experienced they decided to start a renovation project to expand and improve their facilities in Holland, Ohio. They wanted to continue operating the business while portions of their property and building were not accessible. They approached Nation Ramps for a solution that could allow them to do this, a solution that was capable and flexible to meet their constantly changing ramp placement. Once the renovations were completed they would no longer need the ramp as their facility would be upgraded to meet their demands.
